Terex Utilities has announced the full operational launch of its new production headquarters, marking a significant milestone in its manufacturing consolidation strategy. The 450,000-square-foot facility, spanning 55 acres in Watertown, South Dakota, integrates all production phases under a single roof, including assembly, fiberglass fabrication, painting, and installation. As part of Terex AWP, the campus replaces ten separate plants, streamlining operations to enhance efficiency and customer responsiveness.
"Consolidating our facilities has revolutionized internal collaboration and production workflows," stated Clint Weber, Vice President and General Manager of Terex Utilities. "By centralizing operations, we've shortened lead times and strengthened our ability to deliver tailored solutions—all while upholding our commitment to premium quality."
The facility's manufacturing process emphasizes American supply chain resilience, featuring:
Certified welding teams ensuring structural integrity
Powder coating pre-assembly for corrosion resistance
Rectangular biaxial epoxy fiberglass layering for durability
100% functional testing of all equipment before dispatch
The first batch of equipment rolled out includes:
C6060 excavator derrick for Otter Tail Power Company (Minnesota)
HR46 aerial work platform for Xcel Energy (Minnesota)
LT40 aerial device for NiSource (Indiana)
General 65 excavator derrick for Brazos Electric Cooperative (Texas)
"We leverage our vertically integrated model to quickly adapt to unique customer requirements," added Weber. The new hub positions Terex Utilities to address growing demand for reliable utility equipment, combining scale manufacturing with custom engineering capabilities. The company plans to expand production capacity further, solidifying its role as a leading provider of infrastructure solutions across North America.
