Morooka Expands Rotary Track Lineup with U.S.-Largest MST-3000VDR

Morooka has broadened its rotary tracked transport vehicle portfolio with the debut of the MST-3000VDR, claiming the model as the U.S.' largest rotary track dump truck by payload capacity. The new machine, rolling off the assembly line at the company's Ashland, Virginia facility, boasts a 36,000-pound payload—marking a 50% increase over its predecessor, the MST-2200VDR (24,000-pound payload).

Engineering Breakthroughs

Developed in collaboration with Morooka dealer Anderson Equipment—specializing in stream and wetland restoration in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania—the MST-3000VDR incorporates a 300-hp Caterpillar engine (up from the MST-2200's 250-hp unit) and an upgraded hydraulic system. This powertrain enhancement enables what Morooka describes as "nearly doubled dirt-moving efficiency" for clients like Rosscapes, a testament to the model's productivity gains.

Rotary Track Technology

Equipped with 360-degree rotating superstructures independent of the chassis and rubber tracks, VDR-series models address two key user needs: minimizing ground disturbance during turns and operating in confined spaces. This design versatility has made Morooka's tracked vehicles a staple in environmentally sensitive projects.

Future Expansion Plans

While the MST-3000VDR is currently available via special order, Morooka has announced the upcoming MST-4000VDR, scheduled for 2024. Slated to be manufactured in Japan, the next-gen model will up the ante with a 39,683-pound payload, positioning it as "the market's largest rotary dump truck" upon launch.
